About Big Gigantic

Big Gigantic whose blend of mind-bending beats, thunderous bass, and frenetic melodies has developed a rabid following since forming in 2008, has taken their sound to yet another dimension with the release of their newest album Brighter Future. The album, by Boulder, CO-based saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken, continues to solidify Big Gigantic as a key player in the worlds of electronic, dance, and hip-hop. No genre is off-limits for Big Gigantic, whose breakthrough sound channels everything from funk and dub-step to house and hip-hop.

After graduating with a master’s degree in jazz at the Manhattan School of Music, Lalli relocated to Boulder and began performing with Salken, experimenting with the idea of interpreting traditional DJ-based music with live instruments. The duo built up early hype in 2008 with local shows and one-offs around the country before releasing their debut album ‘Fire It Up’ in 2009 and embarking on a full US tour.

Already a smash on the festival circuit, Big Gigantic’s transcendent live shows are a showcase of brilliant improvisation and a tightly-knit bond between Salken and Lalli, who breathlessly alternates between keys, sax and laptop, building a futuristic wall of sound that keeps the crowd on its feet. The marathon shows feature a variety of songs new, old and unreleased, as well as outside-of-the-box remixes including Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow,” Aloe Blacc’s ‘I need a Dollar,’ and Notorious B.I.G.’s “Notorious Thugs.”

Big G also recently released Brighter Future Remixed which includes tracks from the original album remixed by many notable artists like Kill The Noise, KRANE, Kasbo, Naderi, Win & Woo, The Funk Hunters, and more.

Brasstracks

After studying together at Manhattan School of Music, Ivan Jackson (trumpet) and Conor Rayne (drums) linked up to form production duo Brasstracks in 2014. Initially a side project allowing them to use their instruments to produce electronic music they were passionate about, a cover of Rihanna’s “Four Five Seconds” with Lido cemented them on the SoundCloud producer scene. Since their early beginnings in the SoundCloud space they have dropped an array of critically acclaimed covers and remixes, toured with Lido, Mr Carmack, Jack Garrat and GRiZ, played iconic venues such as Denver’s Red Rocks and featured/produced on songs with GoldLink, Anderson Paak, Lido and Khalid.

In August 2016 they released their debut EP, Good Love featuring collaborations with Roses Gabor, Jay Prince, Lido, FatherDude and Masego and took the EP on the road with their Good Love Fall Tour. Most notably however, Ivan and Conor produced arguably the biggest HipHop record of 2016 with Chance The Rappers ‘No Problem’ feat Lil Wayne and 2Chainz. This led to a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song to add to Ivan’s nomination for his writing contribution to Anderson Paak’s ‘Am I Wrong’. With an album in the works and festival appearances booked every weekend throughout the summer, these two Jazz trained musicians are shaping up to have a huge 2017.
