Mudslide Charley is a Missoula, Montana born band that delivers heartfelt roots rhythm and blues. From our first spark of inspiration in 2004, the band continues to ignite and morph over the years into the now six piece powerhouse of diverse musicians and songwriters. We draw inspiration from a more antiquated era when Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker first fused the rough and rural vibes of southern acoustic blues with modern electric instruments then weave our blues foundation with Stax era R&B, Western Swing, Reggae and Rock & Roll to perform original songs that bristle with
electric vibrancy and emotional fervor.
Mudslide Charley just recently released our fifth album, Clearwater Junction, which was written, composed and recorded in the throws of the pandemic and consists of eleven original songs that dissect the dissonance of the times against the backdrop of hope, love and human resolve. Clearwater Junction cracked the the Top 25 on the Living Blues Radio Charts in February 2023 and hit #24 on the Contemporary Blues chart and #47 n the Top Blues Albums from the Roots Music Report. Two previous albums, (2014) New & Used, (2018) Words & Bones, also cracked the Top 25 Living Blues Radio Charts. Mudslide Charley has performed at the Magic City Blues Festival, Wallace Blues Festival, Salmon Blues & Brews, Hot Springs Blues Festival, Philipsburg Blues & Brews Festival and the Flathead Blues Festival. We have shared the stage with Marcia Ball, John Fohl, Charles Neville, Anna Popovich, Nick Schnebelen, Hoyt Axton, The Common Heart and Hillstomp.
