Secret Family is a collection of friends born over time/underwater, on the beaches and in the doghouse of minds. Cody James and Greg Friendly have been playing for many years in flooded basements, tight porches, in unknown lands, together. Many lives lived with many different cats. On old four tracks songs became, then those songs lay dormant, dusty cassettes in cardboard boxes migrated from one room inside to another. In the hour of the garbage truck, friends are what brought it to life, friends and reflections, unknown legends on amaro, exposed to milky ways. Those new smells/reopened boxes. The feral nature of new/old pals spanking drums, diming the mids on old amps, noodling to remove the death capacitor on the march toward nothing/everything. Levi “Councilman” Counts and Reese “The Real Piece” Kolar mimic heart-beats, snare champions with actual smiles. Sheena “LaBobby” Dham and Lionel “Loinal” Foster foster the bang, the bump, the life, a guide in the woods of songs and correctional confidence. In union they rock for whomever, game for whatever in a time of whatever in the land of whatever. Secret Family emits songs of innocence AND the shadow of experience: moonbeams, real and false summits, endless beach, and the superbloom highways of your future child’s refrigerator doodles. Somewhere west: orbiting the heart of the Bay and a Montana prairie lies Secret Family. Jonesing for a little more time, a little more tape, a little more sleep, and one more bounce. Taste like always, rock ‘n’ roll forever, rock ‘n’ roll for whomever; again and today.
