As part of the State Bar of Montana’s 50th Anniversary, we are hosting legal education sessions in conjunction with the Montana Law Review’s “Browning Symposium” and the Mansfield Center’s Community Dialogue Series, as well as a candidate forum with the four candidates running for the Montana Supreme Court.
Browning Symposium Session: This year’s symposium will focus on housing, and feature a keynote presentation by Howard Belodoff – attorney for plaintiffs in Martin v City of Boise, a case overruled in June by the United States Supreme Court in the City of Grants Pass v. Johnson case.
The second panel, held in conjunction with the Mansfield Center, will focus on the rule of law and the role of lawyers in special role of lawyers in society as set forth in the Preamble to the Rules of Professional Conduct, and will include State Bar President-elect Toni Tease, William Bay, President of the American Bar Association, and Dan Cotter, President of the National Conference of Bar Presidents.*
Candidate Forum: The afternoon will conclude with a candidate forum featuring the four candidates running for the Chief Justice and Associate Justice positions on the Montana Supreme Court.*
*Recordings of these sessions will be available for future viewing as part of the State Bar’s Citizens Law School online library.
